Services: FreePBX

FreePBX on a switch that is yours alone

FreePBX puts a web interface and a module system on top of Asterisk. We have worked with it for twenty years, from its early days under Schmooze to its current stewardship by Sangoma, and deployed thousands of installations.

Every switch we provide is dedicated to one customer, hosted in our own UK data centres or on your site, and configured however the business needs. Adding an extension adds nothing to the bill until you outgrow the plan.

Hosted in our data centres

A dedicated FreePBX 17 switch on our own hardware in our own UK data centres. On a self-managed plan we look after the platform and you configure the switch; on a managed plan we configure, secure and maintain it for you. Nothing is sublet to a third party platform and nothing leaves the country.

Where you would rather not share a virtualisation platform, we can host the switch on a physical server dedicated to you.

Hosted plans

On your site

The same switch on hardware we supply, in three sizes: a compact mini PC for small offices, a Ryzen mini PC for up to about 100 endpoints with recording, and a Supermicro 1U server for 250 endpoints and beyond with AI transcription. Self, part or fully managed, with no per-seat charge.

Calls between extensions never leave the building, so the person at the next desk does not depend on your internet connection, and recordings are stored on the appliance.

On-site pricing

What owning it gives you

Anything the business can describe

A seat on a shared platform gives you the features on its price list. A switch of your own gives you Asterisk. The AI behind these runs on our own hardware in the UK.

AI IVR

No menu to listen to. The switch asks callers what they need, converts the answer to text, and a language model decides which team should take the call before it is transferred.

CRM Lookup and Routing

The caller's number is looked up in your CRM, helpdesk or contacts, so you know who is calling before you answer, and the call can go straight to the account manager who knows them.

Support PIN Codes

Contracted customers enter a support PIN and go straight through to the right team, while everyone else joins the general queue.

Queue Callbacks

Callers waiting in a queue, or calling out of hours, leave their name and number for a callback instead of holding. The details go to your CRM, by email or into a dialler queue.

GTranscribe

Our FreePBX module turns recordings into searchable text, attributed to each speaker, and searched from inside FreePBX with every access logged.

Automated Outbound Calls

The switch calls the customer and plays a spoken message generated from your data, for appointment reminders, cancellations and similar notices.

Encrypted as standard

Voice encrypted from handset to switch

Intercepting an unencrypted IP call is straightforward for anyone in the path, so we encrypt the voice between the handset and the switch as standard, at no extra cost. With a hosted switch that covers every call between the phones in your office and our data centre.

The same applies to mobile SIP: a call made through the switch from the app on your mobile is encrypted all the way to the switch, whereas an ordinary mobile call is decrypted inside the mobile network.

Moving across

  • Numbers ported from any line or SIP provider, with the switch ready first
  • Analogue gateways at 1, 2 or 4 lines per unit, up to 60 lines
  • Any SIP trunk provider, several at once for resilience
  • Mobile gateways from 2 to 16 SIMs, with SMS where supported
  • Inbound calls re-routed to mobiles at source if you lose connection

Questions

FreePBX Questions

Is it really our own switch?

Yes. Whether it sits on your site or in our UK data centres, it is a switch dedicated to you, not a share of a platform used by many other businesses. It runs Asterisk and FreePBX 17, and it can be configured however you need.

What is the difference between self-managed and managed?

On a self-managed plan we host and look after the platform, and the switch configuration is in your hands, with the HelpDesk there around the clock at published rates if you need it. On a managed plan we configure, secure and maintain the switch for you and handle any issue on it.

Can we keep our numbers?

Yes. Numbers can be ported from a traditional line provider or another SIP provider. We put the new switch and routes in place first, so traffic is answered from the moment the port completes.

Can we record calls?

Yes, per extension, queue or route, with recordings held in encrypted storage in the UK and access controlled and audited. You still need a lawful basis, to tell callers, and a retention period, and we will set the system up to support those decisions.

Already running FreePBX?

We support switches wherever they are hosted, including with other providers.
